Modern vehicles place greater demands on engine oil than ever before. Smaller engines are producing more horsepower, turbochargers generate extreme heat and advanced emissions systems require cleaner, more efficient operation. Modern Engines Operate Under Higher Temperatures
Many newer vehicles use turbochargers and high-compression engines to improve both performance and fuel economy. These components generate significantly more heat than older engine designs, placing additional stress on the oil that lubricates them.
Engine oil doesn't just reduce friction. It also helps cool moving components, suspend contaminants and prevent harmful deposits from forming. If the oil breaks down under high temperatures, it becomes less effective at performing each of these jobs.

Using an oil that doesn't meet your vehicle manufacturer's specifications may reduce protection, even if the viscosity printed on the bottle appears correct.
Synthetic Oil Maintains Protection Longer
Synthetic oil performs differently from conventional oil because its molecules are more uniform and stable. This allows it to resist oxidation, maintain its viscosity over a wider range of temperatures and flow more quickly during cold starts. It also helps reduce sludge and deposits that can interfere with critical engine components over time.
Although synthetic oil generally lasts longer, it still needs to be replaced according to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. As oil ages, contaminants accumulate and the protective additives gradually become depleted.
